If you work nigh shifts, would you still wake up during the day for lunch?

I am one of those people who are making the day their night and making the night their day... true, it's somehow hard tp work on night shifts as it changes your body systems a lot... but am not complaining though as I learned to adjust and even sleep soundly during the day... :P But the thing is, would you still wake up for lunch during the day if you're working night shifts? I definitely don't! I just thought that the "lunch" I have at work which is from 2am-3am is already the substitute for the lunch we normally have at noon...and that I should sleep straight to get enough energy for the next working night, just like sleeping straight during the night.. :P but some of my friends though still managed to get up at noon for lunch, so that makes them taking 2 lunches a day... :P how about you, if you were on our shoes, would you still cut your sleep and get up for lunch during the day? or would you not bother taking lunch at all anyways you'll still have it at work? please share your thoughts.. :P

When my husband worked nights he would sleep through lunch and I was concerned that maybe he was not getting enough nutrition/not enough to eat. However, it seems that when you turn your world upside down - your nights into days, your body doesn't have much need for the extra food and would rather replenish itself with rest/sleep. That has been my experience.

My s/o works 12 hour swing shift. When he's on his night shift (7pm-7am). He'll eat a meal at around 5pm before work (breakfast), a light meal at his 10:00pm break (lunch) and larger meal at his 3am break (dinner). Sometimes he might eat a few potato chips when he is awake during the day but mostly that's his nighttime so he sleeps. He gets home a little after 7am and is usually asleep by 8-9am. If you switch around the times to their total opposites, it fits in pretty well with a normal day schedule. Working nights is much harder on a person. You need to get as much sleep as you can to stay healthy. Waking up in the middle of the day to eat lunch doesn't make any more sense than a "day person" waking up in the middle of the night for an extra meal. I think you're doing the right thing. Everybody has different sleep and food requirements. Those friends that wake up may simply need more food and less sleep than you. You have to do what is right by your body.

I am more in your shoes. If I worked through the night, and had lunch at night, I would want my uninterrupted sleep during the day. For crying out loud, I am asleep, not burning calories, so I should not be hungry. I think eating the two lunches, and then messing with my body clock as well would make me even heavier than I already am. My opinion only.

I would probably adjustm as I do in a different timezone. I would have my three meals in the evening, middle of the night, and morning, and then I would go to bed and sleep all day.

I used to work nights in the warehouse at Best Buy. It was an interesting schedule for me because I was in school at the same time. I'd work from 10PM-6AM with an hour lunch in-between. I would have a meal around 8 or 9 PM before heading off to work, then have another meal during my break (around 1 or 2 AM). Then I would get off work at 6 AM, have another meal, and then sleep for a bit. Then, I am back around 11 AM to go to my classes. I would get off around 4, maybe have a quick snack, and then sleep again until it's time for classes. So technically, I was up during lunch time. I actually just adjusted my eating schedule to have food during my work schedule and snacks during the day. I was a Jamba Juice fiend then... hahaha.

When I worked I always worked the 11-7 shift, by choice. My body just naturaly likes those hours. I would come home, putter around until about noon, sleep until 7pm. I did that on weekends and days off also. Just simply that was my 'day'

Since I also work on a night shift, my body clock has changed too and that includes my lunch time during the day as well. My work shift now starts at 9pm-6am. When I got home, I would immediately go to my bed right after I wash my face. When I'm off to sleep by 6:30am, usually I tend to wake up at around 11 or 11:30am. Maybe my body knows that it's already time for lunch.lol Then, if I don't have any appointments during the afternoon, I usually go back to sleep around 2 or 3pm then wake up at around 7pm to take a bath and to eat dinner. However, if I do have appointments during afternoons, usually, I take a bath before going out then I'll take my dinner as early as 5am. Then go back to sleep around 6pm then wake up at around 8pm.

I've been working here all night long for almost 2 years now.Two years setting here in front of this computer. My first week here is very though for me.Feel so sleepy at work and can't sleep at day time but then I'm used to it now.I have totally changed my day time into night time.Even during my off im also sleeping at day time and doing some stuff during the night.Im working here for 10 hours from 8pm to 6 am.Every morning I arrived home, I just eat my breakfast and then sleep till 6 pm.NO lunch anymore just a dinner.Just imagine i can't even see sun shine.(lol).We just have a midnightlunch here in the office.Yes it requires lots of adjustments at first but if you're used to it now you will feel it enjoyable.Night work is fun specially if you have lots of foods in your table,i used to keep eating wile working.(hehhehe).Most of the people here gets fat but i remain slim because i have a fast metabolism..(hahhaha)...sorry i just thought to share it!(lol). My only one advice to those people working at night, dont forget to take vitamins.I always have stress in my table. It helps me to have a lot of energy at work. :)

I used to have nightshift at work, and yes although i don't want, but my parents wake me up when lunch. They don't want me feeling so hungry whenever i wake up. And they adviced me, even we are sleep our stomach will be hungry because they need something to be digested during lunch time.

When I used to work graveyard sometimes I was still up at noon, depending if I had errands to run before going to bed. Otherwise I was out like a light and I didn't wake back up until late in the afternoon or early evening. Pft! Why wake up at noon for lunch? lol I had my lunch at 9pm the previous day!

My husband works shifts. When he is on afternnon shift, he doesn't get hime until around 11.30pm. So he does wake up in time for a good, hot cooked lunch. ut he doesn't wake up in time for breakfast, which is not really good for him. I pack him sandwiches, etc for tea at work.

I worked third shift for 6 years. I have always had a lot of trouble sleeping and getting to sleep so that was always really hard for me to try to sleep during the day. I never got up for lunch because if I ws lucky enough to catch a fewquality hours of sleep I definately didn't want to do anything that would interrupt them.

I think, if I were you... I would like to take my lunch at day time and then again go for sleep. Because if I am empty stomach.... without lunch or something.... then it will be problem for me... in my dreams at day time... I would see that I am having my lunch..LOL. Without food I think... it is difficult to get enery and indulge in work.

We work on the same industry. Normally, after my shift i'll eat my breakfast then sleep for the whole day. When i wake up at around 6pm if there's already food for dinner i'll eat but if there's none ill go straight to work and just eat there or if I got too lazy to eat, i will just smoke and buy a can of soda..:)
