Do People Just Not Care About Grammar?

I've noticed in my time here at mylot, that a lot of posters ignore basic grammar and punctuation. I realize that there are many posters that do not speak English, or speak very limited English, so their posts will obviously be a little harder to read.
But for those of us who do speak English, why neglect the basic rules we learned as a child in elementary school? It's not just here, it's widespread. Have we as a country become so lazy that we fail to speak and spell with intelligence? And do we even care?

I believe in todays society and the fast pace of it all we all have slumbered from our school english classes and have resorted to fast paced typing and abbreviations. It is not that the country is lazy, it is the people in the country have to work so much and so fast the punctation is the least of there worries..If we worry about the little basics it is taking time away from another discussion.I sometimes don't use any at all it just depends on my mood for that day and what is going on.

But honestly, I can't understand why we are in such a hurry to "get to another discussion". I may be alone in my opinion, but I think it presents oneself as uneducated and I don't know why someone would want to portray themselves as such.

I understand where you are going but also think of it this way, it depends on the timing as well. Saddly to say grammer can make a big impression(sp) on people, such as work applications or senior theisis. So, it is time for people just to take a slow down. I know on message boards I really do not care about people's grammer there because everyone is trying to post their thoughts quickly. I'm just stateing that for somethings people do need to take the time and look over their grammer at least for the important things in life or they themselves wont achieve much. Hey, I'm filling out applications for scholarships and I deffently have to look out for my grammer on that, they wone give money to a student that does not write that well.

I realized that too. The usage of English here is not perfect. We have to understand that not everyone have a good command of English. Further, sometimes, due to the excitedness in responding to the topics, one can just speak and type as his/her brain relay the info. In which the typing error and sentence construction plus grammar is being ignore. As for me, it not that I don't care about my English usage here, I tends to type very fast and occur to make mistake in spelling and forgotten the conjuctions. My brain and my fingers do sometime not coordinating with each other. Pardon my error if you spots one, as I try to type slowly for this ..too slow and too careful can cause mistake too...LOL.

A lot of people are rushing, and we do not have a spell check or a delete to fix the error. That is what I think.

I've wondered the same thing about the Americans and Canadians among us, who just don't care. Then I thought of it again. Perhaps these people are just ignorant and uneducated. I can see that you were taught well, as was I. Grammar has become second nature to people like us, but it is not that way for everybody.
