For a long time I was reluctant to blog because I thought that other people's blogs were far more interesting than mine could ever be. In truth, there are many different kinds of blogs - as many, perhaps, as there are people who blog! However, I began to realise that the ones which fascinated me the most were the ones that simply talked about people's ordinary lives. I saw that it doesn't have to be a daily diary (though it can be) but just some snippet that caught that person's interest and that they felt they should write about.
At first it is hard to know who your audience is but gradually you realise that it is people just like yourself who find other people's stories fascinating. If you need an audience, then imagine that you are talking to a very good friend whom you haven't seen in a while, or writing to a favourite aunt or uncle.
It's a good idea to be a little careful about some details - those that could identify you, for example, and could make it easy to know exactly where you live. I find that rather depends on your age. A young person should, perhaps, be more careful than an older person. In fact, though, 99% of the time friendliness will be met with friendship. Most people are just like yourself - honest and caring.
Try to write good English in a conversational style. Be careful about your spelling and punctuation: it says a lot about the kind of person you want to portray yourself as! Look around you and keep your eyes open for at least one topic every day which interests you. Say what you feel about it but remember that your audience consists of many people you don't know yet but who may become friends.
A blog is for sharing your interest in life, really. Go with it!
