How much TV do you let your kids watch? I have two of them ages 4 and 2. I generally don't let them watch too much tv, but lately I have let them watch a little extra since I'm 2 months pregnant and morning sickness is a little extra strong this pregnancy. What do you think are the effects of television watching for young children

I let my child watch her programs in the morning between 9:30 to 10:30. Then tv should be turn off because she wanted to do another activity. Then in the afternoon, probably 2 hours...but there is break in between. She eat snacks, she plays in the patio, I sit down with her and color or just read a book. At night, she can watch 1 program (usually about bedtime ) before her bedtime stories.
As long as you are just vigilant on the programs that she is watching, then I guess extra tv time is not that bad. I just let her watch PBS and Disney. Or her DVD's or VHS. I already know the programming of the said channel and I know that is it quite safe and educational.

I have to admit that in the winter months I let them watch more TV than they should. I have a 3 and 4 yr old so I try to limit what and how much TV they watch. In the summer time they watch TV in the mid afternoon when it's really to hot to go outside and then a show to wind down before they go to bed. They have sports in the evening or we go to the park. I really try my best to keep them active or busy. I also have crafts and music time.

Well i dont have any kids yet but, watching my younger siblings i guess there should not be any restrictions at all the more one refrain them doing one thing the more they wanna do it.Perhaps one should have balance between the things, for childrens of age 2 and for there should be only 2-3 hours a day for watching tv i guess. The side effects could be disastrous if the watch violent programs, even cartoons of todays age have become violents so perhaps let them watch the nickleodeon kinda programs.
