Why do people have discussions about celebrities?

Seriously, I'm getting tired of going onto ANY chatroom or discussion site and there are people talking about some faous guy going out with some other famous girl/guy. I don't care about gossip- that is what this crap is called- and I wish people would stop getting into drama that's not there own. Don't these people have lives of their own? Geez...

You can't blame people, anyone will do anything just for getting other people's attentions. Though their aim is just for a good chat or discussion, things do come out of hand whenever the conversation goes more broader. And I think celebrities are a good choice of topic to attract more attentions to people who knows a thing or two about them, especially when they are the 'talk-of-the-town'.
As the saying goes, "The latest, the hottest!" LoL
