Adoption...would you do it? Have you been adopted?

Would you ever adopt a child or children if you discovered you could not have children biologically? Were you adopted? Do you feel as if being adopted had an impact on your identity, either positively or negatively? I was not adopted, but I've known people to be adopted and culturally, they feel attached to their adopted parents. What do you think about the adoption laws on the books?

I would absolutely consider adoption if I couldn't give birth myself. Even though (as far as I know) I am capable, I would still like to consider it in the future, when I'm prepared to have children. Being half adopted (my dad adopted me), I know firsthand how wonderful it can be to accept a child into your household and give him or her a loving home.

I plan on adopting children, even though, as far as I know, I am capable of having my own.
My older sister was adopted at birth. I wasn't born until she was around 10 years old, so I don't know much about it, but I do know that about a year ago a guy started calling saying he was her biological dad and wanted to get to know her. She didn't want anything to do with him. She was 24 years old, and was starting a family of her own. Our parents were the only ones she had ever known, and she didn't feel comfortable being around him.
