Two words: Physical Computing
As far as I understand the future of our physical world and the future of new media lies in how it will integrate with Physical Computing, "sensing and controlling the physical world with 'computers'". How are we going to use the processing powers of machines or computers to go about our daily lives? Currently a lot of media is screen based. A common example of screen based media is the web. In the near future media as we know it, I would say, will be a blend of physical computing and screen based media. How do you think technology will evolve? I have experience in a lot of screen based new media technology, web design and development, and interactive media etc.. but am becoming increasingly interested in Physical Computing. I just bought a ridiculously highly reviewed book "Physical Computing" by Dan O'Sullivan and Tom Igoe. What are your thoughts?
