He is constantly singing songs and quoting movie lines. He thinks everyone likes him but being around him makes us all sick. He always tries to rub all of the everyone's backs and shoulders.
He disturbs all by interupting in our privacy. He is there always when I have to talk something with my wife. He is always there when boss asks me to be in his cabin and he stands there and listen all the conservation.
I'm really fed up of him.

You really mean this is a different guy and not your inner self? Well, to me it sounded like a voice within you.I might have got it wrong, but going with the simpler interpretation why don't you just tell him so ? Doesn't he respect what others have to tell him ? An ''all pleaser'' should actually be bothered about how he is perceived.
Just a thin chance of the guy being the inner voice , in which case,it's better to have his company and if I am wrong about him, then call me naive, lol.

Look left, Look right, is there anyone? I see no one, just hearing some noise. I will just shrugged my shoulders and then get on with what I'm doing. That's how I will treat this annoying guy - as invisible. There is nothing more hurting than giving the cold treatment, I understand but sometimes, it just cannot be helped.

why don't you just turn back and tell him excuse me, can I have some privacy. Telll him by looking him in the eye, authoritatively and firmly. No need to be exploding and without waiting for hiom to answer just turn you back and continue with your work. he should get the hint mayu be tell him that before the boss too, with boss's permission ofcourse. how can boss tolerate his behavior in his own cabin?
May be tell hium straight to his face that you all do not like his behavior and its bothering you all.

Oh wow this must be very annoying and I don't blame you but he certainly would get the boot if he worked in Australia and did this rub to everybody's back. But for singing and quotng movies lines well that is not as bad and this is just his personality. I would say to him excuse me but I need to talk in private. I do not understand why your boss does not say this to him anyway.

Sounds like you got a snooping boss, samrat. The right thing to do would be to ignore him. Act cool and just go on with what you're doing. If you are really fed up, then take hold of your boss, bring him to one corner and talk straight with him. Tell him what you feel. He can be your boss, but your boss is not acting like what he should be.

Simply when he does one of those silly things just say "excuse me, - pls" make sure you do it in the presence of one or two people because he might not catch the message unless it looks embarassing to him/her. Like when you have to be with your boss alone and he is there unanounced or uninvited say it loud and clear and point to the door, dont smile but looks straight and business like.

i was laughing when i read your entry coz i just remembered this one guy from work that acted the same way. he was always singing songs too and we were all annoyed but we just kept it to ourselves. at first i thought i was the only one feeling annoyed. then my colleagues and i got into talking and we actually felt the same way! we just didn't mind and didn't pay much attention to the guy until he just backed away. sometimes we were rude enough to not answer him when he asked us questions. we also didn't react to anything he said or did. we just treated him like a ghost and he just mellowed down. i think he was just looking for attention and we showed him that he wasn't gonna get it from us. he ended up resigning coz we started to grow cold towards him.

Have you tried to talk to him about his behaviour? Perhaps he doesn't realise how much it annoys others with his inappropriate work attitude. Maybe a quiet word, or failing that, perhaps a word with your boss.

If you can't fight him, join him. Whichever way he uses to irritate you, pay him back in his own coin. See if he stops after that. Of course, another outcome would be that you will become good friends after that. :P

If his not a harm then I wouldn't mind. But its annoying I would definitely give him a loud "GO AWAY". (just kidding.) Of course I'll do it in a nice way. If his not NICE guy, and he happens to be employed at my office. He's definitely fired by now. LOL

I'm sorry to hear about it, Samrat. It sure is annoying. Can you tell him to back off when he's listening to you as you talk to your wife? Have you tried to ignore him? Maybe he doesn't know that he's a nuisance. I would be uncomfortable confronting him. But I guess talking to him in a nice way and tell him that you need a privacy would hopefully solve your dilemma. He has too much self-confidence. It's more appropriate to call him conceited? LOL! Talk to him in private and try not to embarrass him so he can maintain his ego boost.

A very funny guy, and sticky too. May be he has too much of happiness in his life to share with others. Try to give him a bashing, by insulting him in front of everyone. Just say some strong words. I hope it would be ok.

Singing song is ok, provided he got a nice voice. we have in our office a guy who sings all time but got a superb voice.so everyone of us enjoy and sometime request him for a particular song. But its not fair for a collegue to be around all the time..they should recognise that there is privacy for everyone.Just say him politely that he is involving in your matter beyond limit.definitely he will understand.
if this kind of person is around in my office i will say not to disturb my privacy and keep away.

Everything what is doing in moderation - can be tolerated by tothers. But when person do what he want and no matter about aother people are around - it can cause a negative reaction of a people raund about.
Such obsessive persons due their egoism persist as sliver in collective what must be wrested out or isolated even he is a good specialist. He never will understand on his own account that he irritate others, even discontent of collective is obvious.
So I think, that the best way make outcry to him talk francly about problems he make to others... Maybe it would be enough just"open his eyes" to problem.
I met in my life such persons, just thank God they weren't my colleaques and could ignore their apperance...
By the way what kind of job u have?
