with the bcci thinking of bringing john wright back as coach for the indian team (now that chappell's tenure has ended) who do u think was better?
was it the cool headed kiwi john wright or was it i-take-no-nonsense greg chappell.
one with a very cool approach to the game, very silent but very effective or one with the killer aussie instincts and ceratin degree of ruthlessness.
one who took india to the threshold of 2003worldcup or one who was part of 2007worldcup debacle.
consider all other variables before answering.

I disagree on both as coach. We have had enough.Just bring Ganguly back and even without a coach but with a physio he as a captain can take us to dizzy heights.Do not forget when he was handed over captancy after a horrendous show by our legend Sachin as captain a brought all pearls together put them in a thread of unity and played. He fought off coutries called frankeistein with his aggression in and off field. All new players were introduced in national team by him only.Yes,the sedate south lobby is upset with his aggression but Iam sure with Mr.Vengsarkar at helm of affairs only change in captainship will make all the differences. We have had enough of politician-Guru Greg,Subdued Mr.Wright.Instead We should opt for Sandeep Patil. He has developed minnows from our country and abroad too.For fielding coach let's have Azharuddin anyday.Guys as an hungry cricket loving Indian who wants a genuine win Iam sure very few will disagree with my view point.Do let me know

heeyy our indian cricket team is not like eklavya as they cannot play good without a good coach . i think this time we shouldgo for an indian coach as the team will be more expressive in their problems easly.i think srikanth or sandeep patil should be a good coach!!
and may some young man can be made a captain so dat he can be able to fit the position for a long time
and we should remove old cricketers let them play test matches

Two are are different types of coach.Wright was a mid level plaer and coach to.But Greg was an extra ordinary player and that's why he always tried to new things, which is some difficult for our Indian atmosphere. And most important things he thoughts he have some good idea and everybody bounds to follow it.

I was not convinced about the total corrupted game and game goers! But I got now that this is highly corrupted area, I mean the sport itself because of money powers and the gambling played around the games!
The Game Cricket is lost and every player is a performer guided by the central commeetee and the whole linkages of Umpires and bookies and top officials and the captain and all are part of this network and the game is really lost!
So why to discuss about who is better?
I think to stop to talk about and to think about cricket is more good advisable thing and to stop the cricket watching and even showing on TV should be banned!

I think John Wright was the better coach after seeing the performance of our team during his period as coach. But Chappell is also a good coach. The only thing is that Chappel is a open minded person and talks openly.. He tells whos wrong and whos not. This was not liked by many seniors in the team. They wanted to retain their places in the team and so all this trouble with the coach...

John Wright was certainly a better coach. But now BCCI should stop importing coaches. Indian stuff is not bad. With foreign coach team India could not even enter second round. With an Indian coach it will at least do that.

I think wright is the best choice for being the indian coach. He's been there for so many years and he knows Indian mentality very well.
he'll prove really good for the battered indian cricket

Well, what I would like to say here is that it is not the coach but the captain who is the deciding factor for a team's performance.
During the 1983 World Cup, the position of coach in the Indian team was next to zero. Still we were able to win the world cup. It was because of the inspirational and flawless captaincy of Kapil Dev. A lot of teams in the world have had great coaches with no results. I think that we need the change in captaincy, eying that Saurav Ganguly has been the most successful captain for India.
Coach, whosoever he may be, will not make much of a difference.

according to me both of them did a good job. the fact is that our players didn't played well.... if you see the potential of indian team in 2007 WC it was one of the most strongest team amongst all. in 2003 wc team india dint had a prominent wicket keeper like dhoni, so the thing there is no fault of coaches both were awesome.

Well i dont think we'll ever find out cos greg chappell wasnt given his team and respect for his process and that's probably why he hasnt been able to establish himself. Also player's performances havent helped his cause either

Well first gud to find a cricket fan here....i was really bored of other discussions.
John Wright is a better coach for INIDIAN Team than Greg Chappell.
when Wright was Indian team 's coach Indian cricketers really improved a lot. That was proved when they reached World Cup 2003 finals n defeated Aussies too in their homegrounds.
So, what i wud say that Wright is a better choice.
Enjoy,

No doubt wright was a very good coach...but i believe chappel is also as good as wright....its not that he is totally responsible for india's dismal performance in the world cup.
If the players are not much commited then even the best coach in the world can't do anything....

I guess it is not coach that we require we require players who are determined to play for the country and not for their personal benefits.

it is 100% now chappel is going out. it will be decided bcci meeting which is going to be held on 6th april at mumbai.i can't say john wright is right choice because it's depends on the availability. but if we have to choose on out of these two then wright is right for indian team.

I think that John Wright person for Indian as an coach as he knowns how to handle Indian players and was a very successful coach. Under his coaching our performance has improved very much and we were also into the finals of the last world cup. But now Greg had not shown any positive sign in for indian cricket. So I will go with john wright.

come on ............ i feel what india team lacks is good communication between Coach and Players ........
I think we should have an indian coach..........
Than any foreign expert indian player can only understand the conditions of indian cricket and mindset of indian players ...
It has to be moulded likewise ........
if chooseing between chappel or Wright
its WRIGHT

HI!! I personally feel that a coach should have some patience. He should not be loud mouthed. By saying this I mean that John Wright is a better option. I'm not saying that he is the best. If BCCI are thinking about bringing back John Wright as the coach its in in the hands of John himself.Because when BCCI wanted John to continue after the World Cup 2003, its was John who turned down the offer due to family reasons.Regarding Chappell, I personally feel that he is loud mouthed. If he has got anything to complain it should be done before anything happens . But instead he is doing that everytime after India loses. And when India wins he has got absolutely no qualms. I think the BCCI should opt for Wright provided he agrees to make a comeback. Its Wright for me because of four reasons
1. He has an impressive track record
2. He never complains about others unneccessarily.
3. He knows the Indian team better than anyone else.
4. He is not partial towards anyone.
