50 years ago on March 27, 1957 my Mormor and Morfar (Danish for Mom's Mom and Mom's Dad) and their three children Jorn (13), Steen (11) and Marianne (7, my mother!) came to Canada from Denmark. In 1990 Mom and Morfar and I went back to Denmark, my sister had gone with my Mormor the year before. I loved it in Denmark, and I want to go back for a while.
As Mom says, "time sure flies."

Now I see the source of your nickname. Lucky you both places are 'cool', I mean your root(Denmark) and your place of settlement(Canada), such that you have beautiful options to alternate betwen. There is always an attraction force pulling one back to one's root no matter how long one has sojourned in another land, no matter how homely the latter is. Home is sweet. Thank Heavens myLot is within reach anywhere. Enjoy Denmark while there anytime you choose.

Well, I have always lived only here in the USA, and not visited outside of the US since I was little. I eventually would Love to visit Scotland as my brother and his wife live there, but for now I am Happy where I am as well.

Itis nice to get back to your roots. My relatives also reside in Canada and they still feel the bond with Malta even though most of them have lived in Ontario for most of their life time. It is nice to keep in touch with your history, culture and relatives if available. © ronaldinu 2008

Home sweet home, Even if it rains gold in your adopted country the heart will always belongs to your roots, the country where you belong. I am sure there is no better place than home.

I know what you mean about desireing to go back to where your family was from. The two side of my family came from two very different parts of the world. One side from Ireland and the other from Australia. Out of all the parts of the world that I could travel to these are on the top of my list. I haven't been to either one yet but hope to someday.

On 7/17/77 I landed in New York to begin my life in the USA I can't believe I will be celebrating 30 years in July. It has been journey in time full of ups and downs but I don't regret it one bit.

It is always nice to keep in touch with your heritage, even if you yourself were not born there.
My wife and I are both English by birth, and lived a large part of our life in the UK. In July, 1981, We pulled up sticks and arrived in Toronto. We came, we settled, and have never regretted it. Yet the pull of the Homeland is still strong (which I think is as it should be). It's always a pleasure to go back, which we do when we can afford, but it is just as pleasurable to return to Canada, because this is our chosen home now, and where we belong.......
Your Mom is certainly bang-on about time flying - in '81 we arrived with two young daughters and a few sticks of furniture; now we have in addition two sons-in-law, four grandchildren, and two GREAT-grandchildren! And it looks like that's just the beginning.........We often look around and say "what the **** happened, and where did it all go?"
Wouldn't have it any other way though - we figure we've done OK.
Congratulations to you and your family on this "anniversary".
Get to Denmark for a while soon as you can - and take your Sedona boyfriend with you - he'll love it!

I have been to Denmark and Canada - both places are lovely but very different ...yes, time does fly ...its like when you are anticipating Christmas and then in a blink of the eye is gone...
Hope you get to Denmark soon and have fun!

So, how is Canada compared to Denmark? I've heard pretty good things about Canada.

It's so wonderful that you have this special day to remember and celebrate. Afraid my family has been in the US for many many years - I have traced a great X several something back to the May Flower. I hope someday to go to England and Ireland where a lot of my ancestors came from.
