I wonder if anyone out there has had malaria as many times as I have. I have heard there are all sorts of 'natural' ways to avoid getting it when you travel but havn't really been game to try them. i know mosquitos don't like the smell of garlic or Vit B's. Can this be used as a deterant! I'd love to avoid all the drugs you have to take when I travel. Besides it is getting expensive!

It seems obvious that you are not an African. For us in Africa, malaria is an ailment that is difficult to avoid because the malaria-causing insects are prevalent here.We get bouts anything from three times and above per annum. It kills many of us although many would rather believe otherwise;which actually makes management difficult. I am not aware of any"natural" methods of avoiding malaria, other than avoiding being bitten by the mosquitoes. This very difficult task can be hepled by your sleeping under mosquito treated nets, netting the doors to your house and fumigating your environment. It is my first time of learning that mosquitoes abhor the smell of garlic. I quite do not understand how the vitamin B is meant to be applied. I know however that there are some chemically prepared repellants which you can pick up in the market and at chemists. Burning dried orange rinds , the use of coils or aerosols can also deter them. What I heard of and am fervently praying for its fruition however is that we are now in the last stages of testing a malaria innoculation. Dudumodu

I am just curious, and am wondering. Is it posssible to completely cover one's body with mosquito netting and walk around like that all day and sleep like that all night? Crazy, perhaps, but this is just a thought.
