This is NOT about MAKING money, this is about LOANING money....;-) There, isn't that different?!
Become a member of Kiva, and loan $25 to a small entrepreneur somewhere in the world. You can choose him/her yourself. This is micro financing, and helps the less fortunate on this earth to better their lives and those of their families and employees...
With a number of loans together, this entrepreneur can expand his/her business and make a better living for everybody. After the full loan is paid back - usually in a year -you get your personal loan back. You either withdraw your money or re-loan (I will do the latter). There is no interest paid on the loan.
The usual sums the entrepreneurs request to loan vary from $500 to $1000. Your $25 is therefor part of a loan... Wouldn't it be great if a number of Mylotters not only help themselves, but also needier people around the world? You can loan as many times $25 or a larger sum, as you like.
The entrepreneurs are selected through local field organizations involved with micro financing.
I read about this non-profit organization in the newspaper. A columnist of the New York Times wrote about it. On Kiva's website is a lot of press comments to read, and everything is explained very clearly. Do you remember who won last Nobel Peace Prize? Right, the big man behind the micro credits.... We all can step in his foot steps on a modest scale.
