Your vacuum? bag or bagless?

I thought I would love a bagless vacuum....WRONG!! It's more of a pain in the butt than one that uses a bag! Atleast with the bags you don't have to inhale all that dust and dirt while changing it. With the bagless you have to not only empty the canister thing, but wash it and all the filters...Do you think the garbage men would give me my old one back? lol
Which do you have? And which do you prefer? And why?

I think I prefer the old bag variety of vaccum cleaners. Once the bag is full just take it out and throw it away. No botheration about cleaning and washing all the filters. I think I'll stick to my old one. I f the garbage men are not going to give back your old cleaner you can borrow mine whenever you want lol.

Awe thank you! That's so sweet. I have to vacuum about 5 times a day with these kids, I'd wear it out! :-P
Thanks for your response! Have a great day!

Wait tile you hoover something damp without realising and it all sticks to the canister, lol, you will really be able to curse it then.
I have a dizzy dyson cylinder, other than that, I love it - not as heavy as a nupright and fits in the cupboard.
The old bags used to make me feel sick at least I can empty dizzy into the wheelie bin easily without affecting my asthma like the bags did.

I actually have both....I have a really nice Miele vacuum cleaner that I use for the bedrooms and our office. The rest of our house is hardwood floors, so I use a small bagless vacuum (Shark Vac). I really like the bagless for the hardwood and the area rugs, because there isn't a lot of dust on those areas.

i understand how you feel.. i tried having a bagless vacuum once.. big mistake! it caused me more of a headache. i found the bagless vacuumns are more messy compared to ones that have bags.. at least with a vacummn that has a bag.. i find its easier to change.. you just take the bag out and put a new one in.. it's as simple as that.. with a bagless vacuumn it is so annoying because like you i found when changing it.. i had dust flying in my face.. once the dust got in my eyes and i ended up with an irritating eye for days on end.. i will never go back to using a bagless vacuum ever again!
i prefer using a vacuum that has a bag.. i find it doesn't cause as much of a headache honestly.. and on top of that.. i find it easier to change a bag on a vacuum that has a bag compared to having to change a bagless vacuum. i will never go back to using anything other then a vacuum that comes with a bag! bagless vacuums are evil in my eyes!

I have the one with the bag. I do not think I could ever go bagless, since i have astma and probably would choke if i tried to empty it =)
Sometimes old things are just better than new ones =)

My wife has a Bissel bagless and she loves it.
She considers it a big step up from what we did have.
Before we met I was living on my own and had a 2 1/2 horsepower shopvac that I used as a vacuum. It was bagless too, but cleaning the filter and the tank on that thing was definitely an outdoor job.
It had plenty of suction, and I would see how far away I could get spiders off their webs with it. It did pretty good at about six inches.
Those carpets sure came out clean too.

Living in a hot climate we don't possess a vacuum. However I can remember the old days back in Australia when I used to suffer from hay fever everytime I emptied the bagless vacuum. Bags I think are highly overpriced but a much healthier option.

No way! I wouldn't go back to bags even if you paid me. I had bags...and I ran into the hassel of running out at the worse possible moment. Then there was the time when the bag wouldn't come out and I pulled it out...and FOOMPH! Dirt and dust everywhere.

first i tried the bag vac. but when my bag stock run empty, i don't know where to buy it. i look all over KL. the only answer i got is, not in stock. so my dust in the house would have to wait until i got new bag for my vacum. at the same time of waiting that bag stock coming to town, i go and bought the bagless one. Hey... it's electrolux ! wireless vac. huhuuhuh ! i love that vac very very very much . and my old vac, still lying on the floor of my store. huhuhuh poor thing !

Funny you should post this because I'm currently trying to decide whether to buy another bagless vacuum or revert back to the ones with the bags. My vacuum has just conked out competely and I need a new one. It was the first bagless one I've had and I thought it was a great idea in theory because I used to hate changing the vacuum bag plus there was always the hassle of running out of bags, not being able to find the right size bag, the bag tearing, etc. However, I've found the bagless one to be a bit of a pain as well! Firstly emptying it is not pleasant .. dust everywhere which I'm sure it can't be good for you breathing it all in like that. Secondly I found with mine that "bits" kept getting stuck up inside the vacuum - not just in the hose but outside the container as well. Hmmm, not sure what I'll end up buying this time.

I have both types of vacuum cleaners. I use the vacuum cleaner that has a bag in it, for my vacuuming in the home. It is alot easier to change out and keep clean. The bagless vacuum that I have, is used for vacuuming out the car and the truck. It is alot easier to use outside than my upright that has a bag in it. I agree that the one without the bag is a pain in the butt to keep clean, but it does save money without having to buy bags for it. I prefer to use the upright vacuum that has a bag in it, because it is alot easier to vacuum in the home. I prefer the bagless outside because it is easier to handle outside and you do not have to worry alot about sucking up too much moisture. You can always clean the moisture out of the container. The garbage man may be nice enough to give your vacuum back if he can find it laugh out loud.

Hi Stephanie5,
LOL I couldn't agree with you more! The old ones were easier to change, unless you let them get overfull & they started clouding the room, yuck. At least you get to wash your filters, lol, mine are paper so I have to beat them against the trash can to knock out as much as I can. They are sooooooo expensive to replace too.
Do you think we could convince someone to make one that dumped right into the garbage can with a dome of some kind over it to hold the dust in? I'd signup for one of those in 2 seconds flat! roflol

I have the one with the bag and I prefer it over the bagless. Call me crazy but I have it stuck in my mind that with a bagless when you empty it not only do you breath the dirt you just vaccumed up but after you empty it you will then have to dust, because doesn't all that dirt fly around in the air? Too much work, dust, vac., redust.
