Do you have this problem on myLot???

Right first off I should say that I am not here primarily for the money. I do enjoy taking part in these community forums.
I have been on here since I woke up a few hours ago and have been reponding to discussions that interest me - I done a search on my hometown of Scotland and have been responding to ones about that.
I just went to the button "discussions i've responded to" to see if anyone has made any comments on what i have said. I thought I would have done about 15 responses for the amount of time I have been on here but of course I had only done about 5 because I type far too much.
But I do make good responses and make them very thorough so you think I would get rewarded for it but I probably don't make anymore than someone that writes four lines. You should og to my profile and check out the ones I have responded to.
I find it very frustrating because even although the money isn't my main reason for doing this I kind of think that I am wasted on here.
Does anyone find themselves in the same situation as me?

I guess all I can say is it is each person's personal choice as to whether they are 'wasting their time here' or not. I've found it best to find a nice balance. If I've responded with extremly long responses to one or two discussions as you did then I know I'm not going to do as many others.
Obviously you felt you had something to share on those particular discussions so you should be happy that you were able to do that. When you then say you feel like your wasting your time though it kinda takes away from why you shared so much.
If you were more disappointed because the person who posted the discussion hadn't responded "wow thank you for all the information" you have to expect that at times - some people never comment on responses, other people are in different time zones and may not be online again for several hours, or maybe not even for days.
I very seldom go 'searching' for discussions because I have notifications turned on for everyone on my friend's list and since I've established that friendship I normally have no problem finding discussions to respond to without look - most of my friends we have things in common with each other so they usually post discussions I'm interested in anyway.

I searched for people looking to come to scotland cos i knew it was something I could talk about. I find it dificult to find discussions where i have something to say that someone else hasnt already said a million times over.
I don't really feel I am wasting time but I know I oculd be doing far less and get the same amount of money which is frustrating.
I do not mind if people do not respond to my comment as I can't reply to everyones either. I have alot of my notifys turned on but I sometimes still find it difficult to find ones I can respond to.

You aren't wasting your time here, you have started a lot of discussions which I enjoy reading, and I am sure you have more potential still in you to provide many more. I really can't be bothered with those people who only put in a few words or a couple of lines, evien if they get paid pretty much the same as you do for responding with a lot more.
I try for two or three paragraphs of response (sometimes less if there is not much to say about the subject), and of course it does take a lot longer to write that much than it does to write 3 or 4 words.
I can spend a couple of hours here and still only respond to between 5 and 10 discussions, which in itself doesn't bother me too much - and for some discussions I do some research as well, which also takes time, as I like my replies to be accurate where possible.
If you want to become a millionaire then set up your own site to rival MyLot (and you get to make the rules), otherwise I would say stay with MyLot, it may not make you rich in money, but you will be rich in friendship.

Thank you so much Eskimo.
Sometimes I do alot of research as well which takes time. And I often find myself looking for good links as well.
I am glad you enjoy my posts.
Thanks

Well yes Claire - I am with you on this one. I used to take ages writing long, responses to lots of discussions, and being very careful about my typing, spellng, and grammar. But as I got less and less time with the new job, I didn't have the time to, and seemed that the money didn't change despite how quick and "tacky" my responses were.

i think we all feel like that sometimes. i know i do. i havent been here that long but i am here alot it seems. i enjoy trying to help people. the money isnt why i came here in fact i didnt relize we got paid for this till after i signed up. a friend told me about this place saying she talks on here alot and it was fun so i signed up and didnt read everything at first. i love this place but sometimes i feel like is anyone reading what i write, have i really helped anyone, or do people make up stuff or really have a problem? then i think yea they do read, i know i made someone smile, and even if the problem isnt theres i bet it is somebodys and they have read the responses. i type alot too as you can tell. good luck and keep your chin up. i think its worth it but i think we all ask that at one time.

Yes I realised long ago that I was never going to make my fortune on myLot! I don't really understand the way the reward system works. It seems entirely random to me. I have days when I post loads and get hardly anything for it and other days when I do just a few responses and do really well - well for on here I mean!
I enjoy it though so I don't really mind. The money is just an extra bonus. I would probably still post here whether we were paid or not.

I rest assure you that the responses we make are being read. It could be that the responses from your responses get a few lines in return, but there are some which never get any remarks. What matters most for me is that they are being read by the ones we expect to read them thoroughly because, in the first place, that is their subject of interest having posted it themselves. Otherwise, they have no business posting anything which does not at all interest them. So just keep on posting and don't mind so much about the responses you get out of the responses you have posted.

I tend to find that I do better with responding to others discussions as opposed to writing my own. I've also realized that when I do write discussions, only a few people on my friends list take the time to reply.
I have the same problem that you do when it comes to typing out responses though. I feel like I've done loads but figure out eventually that I haven't done that many at all lol.
I like to make sure I type more than four sentences and I like to make sure that my answer is well thought out and on topic. I hate the fact that some people write like 2 sentences that aren't on topic. Then I report them, because well, why should they get paid for not making an effort to read the discussion first?
I say carry on posting regardless, there are people on here who need help and advice, and if we can bring a smile to their face then I reckon we've made their day just a little bit brighter.
