Getting tired of this

I have been working at my job for 5 years now. I love what I do, but I can not deal with the bull that goes on, on a daily basis. We have lost 3 people within the last 4 months, due to promotions, moving, and disability. Within this time I have become the go to person. I am doing work for 3 people. I feel like I am being taken advantage of. My health is not at its best and I am contemplating quitting my job for health reasons, just to get out of this situation. Unfortunately, they know that they can come to me with a project or whatever, because that is the type of person that I am. My friends and family keep telling me not to worry so much about what others think and just start telling them "NO". But I don't want to lose my job over something stupid. Has anyone else ever been in a situation like this? What did you do? Thanks for any responses.

I think it would depend on what kind of relationship you have with your boss or superior, if you look at them as the people in charge that you can't speak to then it will be more difficult I guess, but if you feel they are easy people to speak to, then you should go to them and tell them how you feel, I think you won't lose your job if you speak out about the situation. I can only speak for myself, that if I was in a situation like that, I could speak to my Team Leader about it, because she is very helpful. I would suggest you speak to your superior about it and also learn to say "no" sometimes, you just tell the people that you have a lot to do at the moment and if it's not urgent you will get to it, if it's urgent they must look for someone else to help. I think it's worth a try, your comtemplating quitting might be for nothing because you have not spoken out about it. The people going to you for help might seem to you as them taking advantage of you, but they might be thinking that you're ok with it and that's why they do it, they won't know unless you tell them. If you enjoy your job it's definitely worth fighting for, but if you're not happy, then think hard about whether finding another job is what you want. I've been working at my job for about 5 years too, I have ups and downs, times that I have an overload, a lot of people come to me with questions, but I enjoy what I do and speak to my Team Leader when I'm not happy about something. All the best to you!
