My uncle was about 450lbs. or so and he had it done, and let me tell you, he lost so much weight, and looks fabulous. The only thing is, when you loose so much weight your skin starts to sag, and it was a long time before he could acutally exercize agian...so he still has it. I would suggest sugergy to get the extra skin off to..after a while. He has got sick a lot withen the first month or so and really had no appitite ( not that bad of a thing ) but he said in the long run its totally worth it! Tell you sister and mother good luck!

I had this surgery almost 4 yrs ago. I have to say..it literally saved my life. High blood pressure, breathing problems, and sleep apnea were my chief complaints. I'd say the website that helped me the most with information was ObesityHelp.com. All the info you can use and support also. You have to resign yourself to change your eating habits and it takes alot out of you emotionally. But I have to say that I wouldn't change a thing.
