If You Had a Really Good Friend Who Had Bad Breath

Would you tell them so? I have a friend who is a wonderful person, but their breath is horrible. I want to say something to them and be tactful, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Any ideas?

start general discussion about health and then about teeth and then about bad breath but ensure every time he does get hurt.
