My baby is 9 months old and although she babbles a lot, I have only been able to make out a few words suchas Dada and bye bye. I am not sure these are real words yet. Please explain.

All babies do things at different ages so don't try to compare one baby to another. Some babies start talking at 1 year and others wait until they are about 18 months. I have even heard of somme babies waiting until about 3 or even 4.

It takes time but simple words that the sounds are easy to make can start from 9 months dada being the easy one. My son is two and has been saying a few things only to be understood by me his dad and gran but now suddenly he has started to really try and make words even refering to kids tv that he has wathched. I have a friend who has a 1 year old girl and she speaks lots and really clear to so I think if youu have a girl it will be no time at all before she starts saying more words girls are faster than boys
