defficiency of potassium

My father was ill since one week. Doctors told him that there is defficiency of potassium in his blood. We really never heared about that anybody can have defficiency of pottasium. Can anybody tell us why this happen and what he should eat or what he should do to overcome this problem.

you may not heard about it but this condition is called 'hypokalemia'
my recomendation to have fruits in diet specially citrus fruits 'coz they are rich source of potassium.
but plz dont do such a way that potassium level increases above its normal limit...always consult youe doctor

Hypokalemia is the name and there are a lot of reasons for it ranging from a simple diarrhea to complex hormonal and kidney problems. Your doctor would have run tyests to determine the cost and decide whether it is to be treated withg just diet or other methods. Listen to whatever he says.
