How do you deal with depression?

Depression has many forms and we all deal with it differently...for instance some people eat too much, others cannot sleep and others drink or use drugs - what do you do when you are blue and why???

I think food somehow offers comfort through its taste...I tend to want spicy food when I am low; to tell you the truth I think that is the way I put up weight lately and that is yet another thing to be depressed about....

I used to sleep over it, but these days, I go out and have a short walk. I even take up photography and focus on nature's beauty! It works!
It is not to say I'm not depress anymore when I come back, but at least, I can smile at my problems and to others.

Yes, I do take walks too with blasting music from my iPod and you are right it does help to brighten the horizon...at times!

i normally cannot sleep when i am dipressed ,rather i feel very lethargic.i do yoga normally which help me to get a bit control on my emotions.also i talk with my partner expecting him to understand my depression and might be he can help me out.i try to indulge myself in some touh work so that i really dont get time to think on it.

Hello, MagdalenaM! in every body's life depression comes in some form or other.but don't give much importance to it.be always happy and change your life style.remain in balanced diet and say no to drinks and smoking.at such time i usually watch comedy cinemas laugh loudly with children because laughter helps reducing hormones associated with stress response.at times i go out for marketing to change the mind.during night i hear light music, specially devotional songs to sooth mind and go to deep sleep.now a days i am getting much pleasure by participating in discussions in My Lot anjoing it very much.i have found this to be a good way to get rid of all stresses and depression.thank you and be happy by following my principle.
