300 movie

Who among you have watched the movie 300? What do you think of it?
I haven't seen the movie yet. My friends say it's a good movie but when I tried to check out the reviews, I was pretty amazed to found out that most of the reviews are negative.
I just want to hear other people's view on this film. Is it really worth my time?

The movie as such is good, as far as cnematography and visual effects are concerned. It is also good if you love the sort of violent flicks that hit theatres once in a while. See it just as a action movie and you may not feel that disappointed.
The storyline is based loosely upon a historical event wherein Xerex, The great persian conqueror and his marauding army were stopped by a band of 300 soldiers, most of them who perished. In the present context, with the ongoing conflict in Iraq and the problems with Iran,it may be good to pep up American sentiments. not that I have anything against either party to the dispute.
All I am saying is that the moviemakers have grossly distorted history, and the presentation of Xerex is far from the historical truth. It has in particular, upset the Parsi community in India for the savage depiction of certain aspects of their culture.
