My favorite restaurant is very far away from both of you. It's a little Italian place in Columbia Maryland in the US about 2 hours from where I live. MY husband took me there on our 1 year anniversary. It's a quaint little hole in the wall but they serve the best food and it is owned by a married couple who come around and make sure your food is good. It's nice.

We don't get out that often, but we have found some really neat places to eat.
The best resteraunt food I've ever had was at a place called "The Keg" in Montreal, Canada. It was soooo good!!! Mashed potatoes took on a new meaning after that visit. I wish it were closer so I could visit more often.
The most fun atmosphere in a resteraunt was at the "Casa Bonita" in Denver, CO. They actually have a waterfall in the resteraunt, and a person that actually dives into a pool at it's base. It was really a great experience. I haven't been there for, my gosh, 20 years, but it truely stuck in my mind.
Locally, my favorite resteraunt is "jake and arnies" in Janesville, IA. It's a grill-it-yourself steak house. Steak is always fresh and tender, service is always happy and delightful, and the prices are very reasonable. I just wish they had a little more options for their children's menu for when we bring the kids!!

I have loads of favourite places to eat - Had a great meal in the Savoy Grill once.
Balan's is cool, I like the atmosphere there.
Of course I would agree about Oliver's bistro butthey are friends of mine too
