I was listening to the TV the other day. I heard that they often give adderall for weightloss. It got me to wondering. I know weightloss is a major problem in ADHD kids. 2 of my sons have it and they are kinda small but gaining. Would you ever consider taking adderall for weightloss? Anyone here already taking it? I am really thinking about it. I won't say how much I need to loose but it is a lot. I think this might be a good way to curve my hunger and give me energy.

I know this is an older post but what about if your child is already thin? Do you have to force them to eat?

My doctor recently put me on Adderall for focus and motivation. I've never had this problem before. For a while it bothered me to be on this medication, but after only a few days I saw the benefits. I loved to start something and finish it with ease. I remembered so many things that I usually would forget. When I went in for my 2 week checkup with my doctor, I discovered that I had lost 3 pounds. It was so exciting because I didn't even try to loose weight. Two weeks after that I lost another 3 pounds. Even though I love this side affect, I wouldn't say to just take it for weightloss. Adderall is very addictive and I find myself needing to take it everyday. Be very cautious.

Yes it is true that while on adderall you don't have much of a desire to eat, but it is probably the worst way to lose weight. Not only is not eating a terrible idea, but it will cause great health risk and problems down the road. Adderall would be an easy way to lose a couple of pounds but you are basically starving your self. If you are really that concerned about losing weight then you should join a diet program, I suggest weight watchers, and start a regular work out program. the most important thing to remember is you need to eat!!! Not only will not eating screw you up but taking adderall regularly can cause bad side effects. If you are like me and are lazy I would strongly suggest getting over it, staying fat, or look into the side affects of adderall and starvation and see if it is worth it to you. Good luck in whatever you decided or decided.

I'm taking it for focus and motivation, but it has also been making me loose weight. I would not suggest to take it just too loose weight. It's very addictive and should not be abused.
