Population - Is it an awareness problem ?

Today India is emerging as the fastest growing Economy in the world. India has become the destination for worlds major brands. The average buying power has gone up. Literacy level is growing. In spite of all this we have not been able find a solution to our primary problem, the population growth. It would not be a surprising fact if we beat china in near future. Is it lack of awareness ( I wont say education) ? We still have not realized that we would run out of resources pretty soon if the growth rate continues like this.

Population is a serious issue not only for India but also for the whole world. It seems people are still not aware of what can happen if this growth rate continue. I think people don't care about this population issue. Like China government should be strict about this matter in other countries also, specially in India. Then only people will learn. In China the population growth rate is way less than earlier.

Though it may not be an immediate concern it is the biggest concern man kind would face. The natural resources can not be increased and would not be enough to serve every one n the future. If we do not understand this threat now, may be the mother nature will show the results to our future generations. For their better tomorrow today we should be concerned.

Correct. Immaterial of the religious belief government should strictly restrict it to one child per couple. National interest is more than anything else. Thanks for the response Cheers!!

Well I think the government should make 1 child policy for everyone like in China. Otherwise India will have 2 billion people very soon. 45% of Indian population is under 30 years of age and they are going to produce children. So Water shortage, Hot weather, job shortage (leave engineers aside) and a lot of other problems along with population growth I don't even want to imagine India in 20 years.
