What method of payment do you typically use when grocery shopping?
Why do you choose this method over the others? For myself, I sometimes use a credit card so as to earn reward points but this can get out of control easily. If I don't have cash I use my debit card. If I have cash, I use it. I always like to have a little cash in my purse or at home somewhere in case of emergencies.

Almost always use a debit card from my current account. Buy petrol and other purchases. Cash is used at work for snacks and drinks.

Most of the time I use cash. Seems a little old fashioned doesn't it. I don't care much for points and things like that. I don't like to use credit cards at all unless I know it's paid for before the due date. I hate to waste my money on interest payments. I figure that by the interest I save by not using a credit card, is the same as accumulating points. Except that I don't have a bill and I am not losing the money in the form of interst. Think about it!

Personally I prefer to use a debit card. That way the money is coming out of my bank with no interest charges, and I'm mot using monery I haven't got, but it's much more convenient than using cash. I rarely have cash on me at all in fact - just the odd £ for emergencies.

yes, I always like to have a little cash on hand but use my debit card for most all buying , I have credit card but only use it when I have no other way ,such as buying something on line, and that is not often, I also have a chek book but don't carry it and don't write checks except to mail a bill ,such as electric or water bill ... some things like insurance payments I just have take nout of account

When buying groceries I always use my debit card and there are two reasons for that. The main reason is I never know how much my groceries will total and rather than facing the embarrassment of being short, I just use my debit card for the total cost. The second reason I rely on debit is I find in the long run I spend less. Have you ever noticed you take a fifty dollar bill and you break it, lets say your groceries or whatever your purchase is totals we'll say 36.39 you've paid with a 50.00, well once that 50 dollar bill has been broke it's so easy to spend the remaining money because 13.61 is nothing, but face it if you did that a half dozen times now you've spent 81.66 which is more than double what your original purchase was. I call this food for thought !!! Thank You

I always use my plastic because it is much easier than carrying around a lot of cash with me as our weekly shopping bills are £100+ so it is far more convenient to pay with my credit card, besides I get points for using my card which are saved up for cash, so it's in my interest to pay by card. I don't tend to use cash much nowadays.

I use my debit card. I too earn reward points for using it. The convenience of swiping a card is a good reason to use it as well. I personally don't care to carry a lot of extra cash around with me. Most places accept the debit card now. But, it can be a hinderance too. You are more apt to pull out the card for purchases that you really don't need. It takes discipline not to do this.

I don't like carrying a lot of cash, and as we normally do a big shop about once a month in the supermarket it can cost around £100-£150. We normally pay by credit card (which we pay off every month) and get points for this, I hate paying the full price for anything as most goods are very overpriced especially in 'Rip-Off' U.K. so getting points for that amount spent is a help as well. Same with buying Petrol, I use the same credit card to get points and also have a petrol company loyalty card so I get two lots of points for buying the petrol.
If I buy anything over the internet, I usually buy via sites which gives me points as well, including sites like Amazon, I have my own web-site which links to amazon and gives me a commision every time someone (i.e. me ) buys via this link, although there are other sites I use as well which gives me points for buying from amazon - eg Mutual Points or i-Points.

When grocery shopping, I use a combination of payment. I cash-in my pop bottles and put that towards the bill. The store I shop at pays me to re-use my paper bags so that also brings the bill down a little more. I coupon heavily and the store doubles the value of my coupons, again knocking the bill down lower. Whatever is left, I use either the debit card or a check or cash. I usually only have to pay money for one-third of what I actually bring home. Yes, that is right. On the average, I save about 70% on most shopping trips.
Imagine paying $14.50 and taking home about $250.00 worth of food and products. It is so much fun.

I never keep cash in my wallet as I have had it stolen and never want to go through that indignity again. It is far easier to replace cards than it is money. So I mainly use eftpos for shopping.

I usually pay in cash; however, have used my credit card. Its to easy to end up adding a lot of items to your shopping cart when using a credit card, so the only time I every pay with a credit card is when an important holiday is coming soon like Christmas.

I try to avoid using my credit card even while paying for my groceries. I have this habit of adding things that are not on my list. If I have enough cash with me, then I would pay in cash. Otherwise, I would use my very tempting credit card. :)

It depends on what mode of payment the store offers. If there is card, I would use that, for same reason as you. ;-)
Otherwise, it would be back to plain old cash.

I use cash most of the time, because in our city, there are only a few store accept credit to pay.in fact ,I think credit is more convenience.taking too much cash in your body is usually an unsafe thing.
