Why are violent movies and tv shows appealing?

I often wonder why a lot of people criticize violent movies and tv shows, but keep on watching them. They often give comments on the content and illustrations which make it controversial, and by being controversial, it becomes famous.

it is said that,when children watch that violent movies they would be mentally affected by that movie and they want to do as per the movie..hence some people are opposing those violent movies and tv shows..
