Racism at an early age

This is what happened to a friend of mine...What do you think? Yesterday morning on our way to school, my daughter started crying because she did not want to go to school. I asked her why and she said that a little girl in her class didn't want to be friends with her. So I asked her why not, and she said that the little girl told her that her mother said that she cant play with black kids because they are dirty. She can only play with the white kids, so she has to stop talking to her. Well I absolutely went off.....And then I had to remember they were kids, so I explained to my daughter who is only 5, that some parents are just rude, and ignorant with No Class. She doesnt really understand because she is so young. I told her that she should tell her teacher, but what is that really going to do especially since that extends from home. How do you think I should handle this situation.
