Get rid of these ads in our discussions!

I don't know how all of you feel about these new ads that have suddenly been put in our responses, but I really resent them. I have been following some very serious discussions and I find these ads intrusive, to say the least. I almost gave someone a - because I thought at first that he had put it in his response but then I suddenly realized that there were several of them throughout the discussion. For Heaven's sake, the discussion was about a cat that had been horribly abused and almost died and to have these e-bay ads in that discussion was, to me, disgusting. What do the rest of you think? Am I over-reacting or do you feel the same?

HOonestly i think you are over reacting. They don't really bother me. I am paying attention to what i said in the discussion and I just skip them as I read. Mylot is paying us, mylot has to make money to pays us, so whatever works. DO I like them? Not really, but they don't bother me at all.

I don't like them either, but I think we'll all get used to them. If they're brining in revenue to the site, then I don't mind. I would actually like to get paid more and if this helps Mylot to be able to do so, then I think I can put up with them.

I agree that we will get used to them. Isn't that always the way though? On television, they keep on stretching the boundaries just a little more each year until almost anything is allowed now. I remember, back in the days of the dinosaur, holding hands with a boy at high school and getting in trouble for it from one of the teachers. Now look at what is allowed. Each year, with everything we are told, "Don't worry, you'll get used to it...it's not that big of a change"...and it's not, not until you look at the big, overall picture.

It is a little frustrating I think anyway. I know we need the adds for revenue, but the new placement of the ebay adds is a bit intrusive. I liked it much better when it was at the top of the page. And sometimes it's the same add throughout the discussion....??? go figure.

Yes, it is annoying! I hope there will be a way to delete them

I doubt there will be a way to delete them since myLot has authorized them. I don't know if that means we'll receive more money for our posts but, quite frankly, I still think they are intrusive and should be removed.

I'm against using this forum for that purpose, but I also thought that this was against the rules of this site. It's confusing because there are tons of people promoting other businesses and websites where they get paid for referrals, but I was under the impression that this was not allowed.

I don't think you quite understand the question, these adverts are placed ther by MyLot to receive payments to pay us for our discussions. Members are not allowed to promote businesses or websites directly, but can do so by Private Message but only if specifically requested by another member.

It really doesn't matter to me as long as it's not taking up a big portion of the page. It's better than an bunch of popups getting past my popup blocker. It's also another way for mylot to earn. The way I see it is it helps build their funds to pay their members.

Don't like them at all! I hope if enough people complain about them, they might get rid of them! I don't even use ebay so these are of no use to me!

This is how Mylot earn the money to pay us, I think it is something that they have to do. I think you will get used to seeing them in time but the site has to earn for us to be paid.

I was just going to ask about this and decidesd to look through and see if anyone else had started this. I thought people were putting this in to till one was under my name. I hate it and hope they move them elsewhere or get rid of them altogether.

Hopefully myLot will see how many of us find them distasteful and either move them or compromise with some of our suggestions. I am delighted to be your friend. Thank you.
