Are these advertisers for real???

Ads that are too-good-to-be-true usually pop into my inbox like winning money. When you get the urge to claim that imaginary prize and click on that link, it would suddenly bring you somewhere else and a forms would pop up waiting to be filled that had nothing to do with claiming the money. I also get ads that once you click on the image of a laptop computer, after a few moments an almost blank window would show up with the message "This offer is not available on your area...". Receiving offers would usually require you to sign forms for personal info but how come advertisers would send newsletters that would not allow residents outside of the US to participate? I say it's whack!!!
