I've been on mylot for 2 months now and have loved it - I've met some really great people, learned a lot of things about different cultures, people, and life styles. I have also had a lot of fun. I am afraid however with the changes myLot is not fun for me any longer - I am on a slow dialup connection and at the time can not afford high speed just to 'play' on myLot. With the additional ads on the discussions it is taking me up to 15 minutes just to respond to one discussion:( by the time a page loads to read, new page to post response, new page to tag, new page to submit. So, I just want to let my friends know I will not be spending much time at all on myLot unless things change. I am NOT leaving, I will still read discussions off line and if there is something of major importance I will respond but the 'fun' discussions or ones just chit chatting I will not be able to respond to. Also, please forgive me but I will not be able to comment on nearly as many responses as I have in the past - this makes it even more frustrating for me as I love the "discussions" we've had. Please forgive me for posting this way but I estimate it would take me about 10 hours to contact my friends directly to let them know why I'm not around much. I will be keeping you all in my prayers and wish everyone the best of luck.

Oh, I am really sorry to see that Mylot is not working for you as it used to. In the short time I have known you, I have learned to respect you and really appreciate your responses to my discussions. I wish you the best and I will keep you in my prayers as well.

Oh thank you very much, your words and prayers mean a lot to me. I am going to leave my notifications on so I can read my friend's discussions in my email but will just have to limit greatly which I respond to :( It breaks my heart because I have had so much fun here.

I'm sorry won't be around as much Faith. I too have dial-up, but that won't stop me from the amount of posting that I do on here, even with all the new things that have been added on here...then again, I hardly do any posting to begin with to complain about it! LOL Anyway, I know how you feel, and hopefully something can be done to fix it so that us dial-up users don't have to suffer. Take care.

Hopefully they will fix it soon. It is taking about 3 minutes with Roadrunner. Keep checking in and I am sure they will fix it soon. So sorry to hear you can't post to much.

I've the same dilemma, on a good day I get 28.8 kbps sometimes it is as low as 24.6 . Highspeed, cable or dsl is not available here yet. It is frustrating having to wait so long to load the pages. I will miss you BFO

I can understand what you are going thrugh. I have been a mylot user for almost a year now. I really liked those days when the pages used to open in a few seconds and I used to post nearly 200 posts a day. But now time has changed. The pages are lot more heavy. Mylot should certainly take care of this. I hope mylot will listen to this and will take some action to help dial up users like us.

I found myLot VERY slow this morning, but since their closure for upgrades, I think if anything, things are working a little faster. I certainly hope that this is what you have found since you posted your discussion. I do have broadband, but by many standards it is slow. I know many here work on speeds of 10MBps and mine is 512kbps. Theirs is twenty times faster than mine! I also have a monthly download limit, and when I pass the limit, I'm cut back to between 40 and 64kbps which is not much better than dial-up speed. I certainly hope that you have found yours has sped up and that you won't have to cut down on your time here. You post very good responses and are a valued member.

I completely understand how you feel. I have a very slow dial-up as well and I haven't been online much the past 2 weeks. Now that I am a bit more, I have almost 300 friend's discussions that I'm going through...laughing out loud. I'm trying when I can, though. All the best and we'll keep in touch.

Faith, sorry to hear you're having such connectivity problems. I can't imagine loading such a feature-heavy site on dial-up; it must be quite frustrating. As someone else suggested, could you perhaps access the Internet from the library (if you wanted to take the trouble, that is)? Most libraries (even in reural areas) tend to have high speed Internet connections. When I lived in Texas I had dial-up, but anytime I need to work with anything "graphics intensive" I would take myself to the library and use their machines for about an hour.

I"m sorry that you are having so much trouble. I've never noticed myself that its slow but I have DSL. Have you thought of checking into high speed internet? It's really not that much more especially if you get a package deal like I have with Yahoo/SBC. I understand you don't want to spend more money but its something to think about.

I know how annoying and frustrating it is to wait for things to load on dial up. I did get high speed though and it's one of the best things I ever did. Do what you can though, we'll all still be here if and when you decide to rejoin us again. Take care.

hi there...actually, you can get rid of that slow connection thing. why not change it to broadband? wherein you're not gonna use a modem.. u'll be using a LAN and a sat dish and you can have faster connection... as in faster than u think compared to modem. don't feel so bad... we are just here... and will wait for your next posts... love and luck!!

Please try to read posts properly. Byfaithonly explained she was not able to afford broadband just tto play on this site. I'm in the same boat and so are lots of others. I think it's a bit rude of people to be so flippant with their advice. No affence.

Oh faith once you get the pages into the computer it gets faster. I do not really know what I am trying to say, but you know it says that it saves images of pages and that speeds up the loading of the pages. I had the same problem, but now that I have done 20 or so posts it is a lot better. Do give it another try.

Now you make me want to cry, I was only thinking this morning while reading through some of your discussions that I hoped you would still be around a lot longer as I really look up to you as my 'mylot' mentor, and now I won't see you around a lot. I know what you mean about dial up, that is all I have and the computer is so slow somedays that it gets quite frustrating. I love your discussions and feel like I have a sister in Christ even though I haven't known you that long. I will pray that the Lord will provide you with a bigger and better computer with broadband (or whatever it is called in America)so you can whip through your posts. God Bless my friend and will see you soon.

I am so sorry about that. I have broadband but it is actually cheaper than dial up as I am on the Internet all day so it would cost me a fortune if I didn't have broadband. It must be different in different countries, I am in England. I hope proper broadband comes near you soon as it is great.
