It is always my job to have the family over at the holidays and last Christmas I really blew it. I had company from out of town and a house full of teens while I was trying to prepare Christmas dinner. I stuffed the turkey which looked beautiful got it ready for the oven and put it in set the timer. Dinner was to be at 6pm and everything seemed to be well taken care of. I checked the Turkey and it seemed ok, then checked the turkey again an hour later it just didn't seem to be browning so I turned up the oven and that was when I realized that oven was even on. I had turned off the oven instead of the stove eye. Well, as luck has it, my sister had made a ham. We had our dinner and everyone got a big laugh over my incident because they know I'm such a perfectionist when it comes to cooking and having guests over. It will be a dinner I will never forget.

LOL this is quite an anecdote! I'm sure your family will talk about this every single year :) I haven't had a similar experience yet but I do have a lot of "forgetful" moments.

Never can say I have had that happen now I have over cooked it so that it fell right off the bone while trying to get it out of the turkey pan.

i'm sure it is alot funnier now than it was then...my mom forgot to saute the onions and celery one years before adding them to the stuffing..it was one crunchy stuffing..ofcourse we have never let her forget this...also a friend of mine ddnt realize there were things inside of the turkey and baked hers without removing the giblet bag....these things make good memories
