to be announced on May. will it be a new unknown singer or someone from another band.
what will tarja do now that shes no longer with NIghtwish, i mean shes been doin some work but i think her popularity will fall, many fans i think were infact nightwish fans rather than tarja's. she was not the song writter, so its not her lyrics, dont think she'll ever come up with somethin as good as she had with Nightwish, thans to yoko, i mean marcelo. well anyway i hope the new singer is as good as tarja cause uve got to admit she is a good singer, at least in the cd's but not live.

Tarja wasn't all that special if you look at classical singers in general. Although when it comes to combined with symphonic metal there aren't many like here which have done that. I hope her replacement will indeed be as great if not even better as well.
I suppose Tarja will continue training her voice and perhaps totally quit the metal scene, not sure but many classical singers end up actually singing in opera or theater instead because it gives a lot higher aim.

thanks for ure response, and i dont think tarja will completely disappear from the metal scene, but i agree with u that she will spend more time doing opera and things like that, just like the "diva" she thinks she is. shes a great singer though and did a great job in nightwish, and so far, shes one of the best, or maybe the best singer in this genre

The new Nightwish singer is Anette Olzon.
She was born on June 21, 1971 in Katrineholm, Sweden. She played the oboe as a child, toured with her mother and her band, and occasionally sang on stage, as well.[1] At age 13, she started competing at different talent shows and eventually began to study music and singing at the Music Conservatorie in Helsingør, Denmark.
Olzon joined Take Cover when she was 17. Her time with the cover band was shortlived, however, and at 21 she became lead singer in the rock opera group Gränsland. She also sang a duet with Michael Borrman (ex-Jaded Heart singer) on his album Conspiracy.
Olzon then joined Alyson Avenue, and replaced the male vocalist. The band received huge feedback for a demo they sent out in 1999, and Alyson Avenue was soon able to contact various labels. Main composer and keyboardist Niclas Olsson gathered the band, recording a four track demo which resulted in a record deal with AOR Heaven.
In November 2000, debut album Presence of Mind was released. The successor Omega was released in 2003. The band divided because Olzon joined Nightwish in 2007, and the other band members decided to move on to other projects.
Olzon officially joined Nightwish as their new lead singer in early 2007, chosen from about 2,000 applicants of which 10 made it to prove their place in front of the band. She replaced the previous singer Tarja Turunen, who was fired in an open letter in the fall of 2005. Her identity was kept secret until May 24, 2007. The internet single Eva was released the day after she was announced as a singer.
