Do You Ever Wish You Could Take Back Your Best Reponse????

Have you ever doing a discussion and then quickly done a best response. Only to find someone else respond and wish you could make the best response instead?
I have done this. I am sure we all have. Wished we would have waited. I wait a few weeks before I make a best response yet people still do keep responding on occasion.
Would that be a good thing on MyLot? If you got ONE chance to do it again and make a new best response instead? Or is it better to have it just the one time? What do you think??

Sometimes, yes. But I like to wait a while so that my discussions get a good airing. So by the time I mark the best response, I usually have a pretty ok one as the chosen one. But yes, sometimes, it happens and I guess you can always compensate by giving that deserving guy a best response on another discussion if possible.

I've done this for things weeks old or more. Then suddenly people find the discussion AND RESPOND! So thats when I am like why did I do it even soon as a few weeks old??

Well i feel there are times when we even after waiting for quite sometime and when no new repies are forthcoming i mark the best response from them. And after sometime someones posts better response which can't be rewarded but i give them positive rating and positive comment. I feel that we should given the chance to rate the replies out of five, so everyone gets what they deserve. Or we should allowed to reward all better responses that will also improve the overall quality fo discussions on mylot forum too.

Not take it back, but add others to the same discussion

There was a time when in one of my discussions there were two people who gave really great responses.. It was a bit hard to decide which among the 2 gave the best response.. But since I can only choose one, I gave the best response mark to the first one who posted among the two..

i have never gave best response without being sure that this the best one. Its not so easy to get from me it cuz i care about discussions i post and wait for some time untill i choose as well as i conastantly return to my old post to read people opinions. May be cuz i care more about people then about money and not start million silly and boring discussins just to earn money. Heh i also have sharp toungue or what?:))

Its cool you care. I only asked cause I was thinking back to times when I wrote, waited and well got better stuff after I gave one. I feel bad even after waiting. I'm like wish for a do-over.

It has happened to me and I DO wait weeks sometimes and forget to do a best response and then go back and still get some good replies after. Sometimes people are slow or new and see something old to respond to I guess! Oh well :)

I would have liked to on at least one of my discussions, but could you imagine how many people this would upset if their best responses were taken away?
Many of my discussions get very few responses, so I usually wait longer to resolve them than what many others probably do. I often wait weeks and sometimes well over a month before resolving my discussions so that I do not give the best response to the wrong person.
I have awarded the best response on a discussion that had no activity for more than a week a couple of times, only to have someone come back and give a better response than anything that had been there previously. By then it was too late. The best response had already been awarded.

There has been a few times that I wish I could change this, but there are times when not a lot of responses come in and I like to make sure someone gets the best response. I think it is O.K. the way it is because I would not want to be able to change this and take it away from someone else I would not like this done to me. There probably is not too many other ways for them to set this up.

I guess your right though. Thinking about it. I wouldnt want to NOT be best response. Although I think a few times I didnt really have that GREAT of a response and I am like why was I best?? *L*

It never occurred to me to retract any best responses I gave. I usually waited for a few weeks or until my threads stayed dormant then I will resolved the discussions. I honestly do not mind if a discussion I'm responding have marked best response already. Though it kind of irritated me if the best response was given within the hour right away. :)

I've seen this A LOT latelly. I go and respond and see the discussion was started less than 24hrs before and yet best response was picked already. Its like give us a chance to respond. They should make that a rule: NO BEST RESPONE FOR AT LEAST 48 HOURS OR MORE!

I don't think taking it back would be a good thing to do.
A lot of people place great stock by their best responses and their reputation and star rating, and if they had that taken away they would be angry and rightly so.
However, I do think that adding people to the best response thing would be a good idea. There are times when I get torn between 2 great responses and it's so so hard to pick just one.
I have made the mistake before of rating a best response and then ended up wishing I'd waited a while. I usually only wait a few days or so though and generally I'll then pick a best response.
I like to make sure I have my discussions resolved by the end of the month so I can start the new month with a clean slate.

Thats what I was thinking. Like a top 3 best or something depending on how much response you get as well. Big response makes it harder to give a great best response too. Gotta read them all and then decide NOT easy.

EXACTLY! You wait, and then someone else answers it better. Sometimes I know the best response cause it helped answer what I was looking for as well!

I would recommend giving it a day or 2 before choosing your best response to prevent this from happening.....There are so many wonderful Mylot friends out there it can be really hard choosing one! But hopefully this will help for you when choosing the right response for you!
Best Wishes
Stacy

I'd wait longer than that personally. A lot latelly just barely wait a day or less and then give. I'm like wait a second I didnt get a chance!
