Ways to make Facebook groups more useful?

I like belonging to groups with cool names, but the lack of updates on what's going on with my groups is odd compared to the stalker-like tendencies of the rest of the site. What are some ways that you think Facebook could improve the group system without adding to the already paranoid vibe to the place, and without turning it into another Myspace?

I'm not sure how facebook could improve the different groups so more people will take an interest in them. I myself just join groups that I'm invited to, but I never even look at the groups and if I do, no one has even written a wall post. They sure do need to change something about the groups but hopefully they won't end up like Myspace, I hate that website now.

I think that if you want the groups to be better a solution would be to make the groups similar to people's pages. You know like highlight any changes on the home page or discussions. This would eliminate the need to search all over the groups to find out what is new. That would make it a little easier but still not be myspace.
