My parents named me Brian, because they wanted a name that couldn't be shortened, like Stephen to Steve or Christopher to Chris. However I get cross when it's spelt incorrectly as so many people have done so and will switch the letters around and call me Brain! I would have liked to have been called Christopher, Shane or Reese instead, I have changed my middle name officially myself but I wouldn't change my first name because I wouldn't offend my parents.

I am sorry but I think there are a lot of people out there that aren't happy with their names. So you are not alone..Like you I always disliked my name but did not want to say anything because it was my mothers name as well.. She told me I was not name after her, she was Barbara Sue and the nurse Was Barbara Lynn. My mother said the nurse helped her so much and so nice. That is why she named me after her..I do not know .. I never got to meet her..
You know people will always ask about what do you know like about yourself. Names never come up until now.. LOL
Thanks for your comment !!!
Have a Nice Day !!!

LOL !!! I know what you are talking about. my cousins wifes middle name is dumplin. so i feel for her because everyone she went to school with calls her that to this day. plus she can't even say/tell people it's a nick name.
as for me my name is Barbara as a child i hated it because it seemed to adult with all the other names in my school. then the kids started calling me barbbie doll. I picked up some weight because of kidney problems in the second grade. kids are rude they started saying barbbie doll is getting fat. things like that.. needles to say it made me stay thin..lol
p.s. i like your name . really like it when a frenchmen speaks it.lol

Yes, I like my name: Adriana. It's a "noble" name, a latin name. Kings and Popes had or used it. It's a name that has never given me problems and many people like it. Then it's not a very common name and that, perhaps is the thing I like moreof it.

I'm fine with my first name, it was my last name that I had a problem with. I solved the problem by taking my mother's maiden name.

names you would think any thing would be okay but sometimes the names do not fit the person. or people make fun of others names.some names hurt your career.
Sorry that you had to do that but happy for you you could change it.. Now you have me wondering what it was.. LOL
Thanks so much for the comment..

I hate my name. I've heard all sorts of things about why I got it. Some included it was after a woman my dad found attractive and others say its because of a character on Knots Landing. Neither are very good reasons for giving a kid a name. Plus my name means "Pure" and I got a weird middle name (after a gem) I would have actually preferred to be named Karma or at least something with a little more meaning. I honestly think my name brought me down in life.

I am sorry to hear that. It is a pretty name. Sometimes when people looks funny when they hear our name or they say something about it. we remember that from that day on. you would think we have heard it from the day of birth and get should fit us ..
My name is Barbara. as a child/teen it was just to adult for me. Kids called me barbbie doll then in second grade i gained weight due to bad kidneys. I was picked on because barbbie was tall and really thin. by grade 3 i lost the weight/kidneys was still bad. It put pressure on me to stay thin.i did not like it. in the work feild i have had people tell me oh that is a good strong name. i am a playful person that is strong in everything i do but i would be happier with a happy go lucky name.
Hey it was good talking to you. thanks for the comment
