If you could only choose one, what would it be? And why?

If you had to choose between the following, and could only have one what would it be? (I mean if these things were completely independant from one another, because I realize that if you had wealth or love, you might think you would have happiness too. But I am thinking in narrower sense. Think of them as being completely seperate from one another)
Wealth, Power, Love, Happiness.
And why would you choose it?

happiness...... cause i think that the hidden or basic purpose of our lives is to obtain happiness. how would you feel if you were wealthy, powerfull but still unhappy?
Some ancient philosophers thought that happiness could be obtained in two ways- by pleasure or by knowledge.
I'm not a native english speaker....hope you will understand what i wanted to say...tx

I am with you on that one. Happiness would be my choice too. I think if you have happiness, you are more fulfilled, and can more easily obtain the things you desire in life.

I would choose happiness. I'll rather be happy then sad and wealthy. OR you may be inlove but it doesn't assure you happiness, more headaches maybe(^^,LOL^^,) And even if you have everything, wealth, friends, love, it doesn't mean nothing without happiness! It is like food without flavor. Blank and empty. So Happiness is for me! Happy posting and have a nice day!(^^,)

I completely agree. Happiness is the way to go. I think with happiness, you will more easily find the other things, and even if you don't, the happiness will still make you complete.

Happiness is by far more important than anything else is in the world. The rest would be nice to have in addition to happiness, but are not nearly as important as happiness. Without happiness, what is life? It would be just a mere shell of existence. It would not be worth living...

That is exactly how I feel. And I am not really surprised to see that happiness is the choice most others would make as well.

I believe I would chose happiness. Because if you are happy it radiates from you. And in that happening you would find love. Power and wealth you have to work at. If you had power or wealth and found someone you wanted to be with you would wonder what the reason behind you agreeing to stay with them was.

That makes a good point. I agree that power and wealth would be nothing with happiness.

The last part of what I said was supposed to be what the reason was they agreed to stay with me for.

without happiness even. We really need to be able to edit our comments for those times when our fingers are a lot faster than out brains.

Tempted to say Love, but after thinking about it, would say Happiness, because I think if you radiate Happiness, Love will soon seek you out anyway.
Luckily I don't have to choose, as I am blessed with both (not much of the first two though!).

I agree with you. I think if you have happiness, the other things are more likely to find you.

That is a very good point. And makes a whole lot of sense.

I guess I am going to be the lone "contrarian" here, and say that I would choose love.
I don't believe there can be happiness without love... and so happiness alone becomes an empty place, for me. And I think happiness automatically flows from love. I have many times heard it said that "Love is the answer," and I believe that to be true. I care little about wealth, and even less about power.
