Co-workers leaving.

Yesterday was the last day of my colleague and then friend of almost 20 months. Didnt feel so much till he was here, as we knew we will still be in touch outside the office. But really miss him today in office. Aren't we emotionally attached to our work where we spend almost half of our day? Does a co-worker leaving the company make you feel like leaving the company as well???
