Whether Cable TV comes in the way of children studying at home?

I have two children studying in school (XI Std and III Std. respectively). I have taken off the cable TV connection three years back and yes to a great extent I could see improvement in their academics. But, at the same time I feel that they are losing out on the lastest happenings the world over - that are shown on TV. Am I right or wrong in my conjecture? Any suggestion ?

that`s right. but some time may you give them a free time, to watching TV or playing with a friend. becouse they have a different world, diffrent condition, and atc...
