Too much of an intake of rice is probably not good for health. This might shoot the sugar levels in our body. Doctors also recommend that too much of rice should be avoided after a certain age, say 40. Rice can easily and effectively be subsituted by chappattis or dosas. Any suggestion?

Well, I as a Diabetic, know that at least for me, Rice effects my Sugar level and so I really have to watch the amount of Rice I eat. Problem is, I Love Rice. I have heard though that it is best to eat the Rice you have to boil and cook in like a Rice cooker is way better for you than Minute Rice, Rice a Roni, etc.
But like with everything else, if you choose to go overboard on the amount of Rice you consume in a day you could be asking for troubles even if you are not Diabetic as in the long term effects. But personally, I have never heard the over age 40 thing.

Yes, it may be true. White polished rice contains starch, a form of carbohydrate and sugar. That's why it is not recommended for those who have diabetes.
I mix my white rice with brown, unpolished rice. This type of rice is rather rough and not so pretty to look at. It also has a strong smell. But, it contains a lot of good nutrients compare to white polished rice.
