I try to work at being a Proverbs 31 wife. When my husband and I got engaged, he told me that he really felt that I fit the description there, but I know that there are still things that I could do better. I look back at that scripture occasionally to see how I can improve. It is definitely a good thing to strive for! :)

I don't know if any of us ever get really good at it, the best we can do is keep on trying. Its real easy to get discouraged in a world that no longer values the ideals set forth in the bible. In fact we bible believers are looked at as some sort of nut or deluded creature. Keep trying, your husband and children will rise up and call you BLESSED.

I try to be the wife that is described in Proverbs 31. I don't think many women now a days even knows about it. I didn't know about it until one of my bible study leader wrote it in a book she gave me for my wedding.

*LOL* OMG...that's too funny. When I saw your discussion, I saw the one I posted right above it and it goes hand in hand.
I used to enjoy that passage until it was fully explained to me by my husband's pastor. In it, it describes a woman who gets up before the sun does and toils all day long, never is idle, has the meals ready for her family, works the land, goes out to buy and sell merchandise, has servents and etc. The only one who is allowed to sit on their rears is the husband as he's sitting with the elders. He can relax and boast about his wife to the others.
All of Proverbs has something dealing about a man avoiding a certain type of woman. It makes me feel...bad and dirty as a female. I've talked to my husband about this and all he does is laugh scornfully at me and says, "Are you kidding? (I hate when he says that) The bible is full of ways for how a woman is to behave and for a man not to be snared by her." Uuummm...ok...what about things for a MAN?!?! Where does it say in the bible for ways of a man to be? I mean, other than just a few lines here there.
