CSI Lights Out

I understand the show, 'CSI' takes place during the night, but why are the lights always off at the crime scenes? I would think it would be easier if the had more light. LOL.
So, besides just mood, why do you think they never turn on any lights? Saving energy, maybe.

because they aren't allowed to change a scene until it is released by the coroner, and usually,they arrive either before or with the coroner. Besides, often things are seen in the sidewards light of a flash light that wouldn't be as noticable with the lights on and overhead.

I thought they weren't supposed to move the body until coroner showed up? Learned something new, I guess. Thanks.

didn't really notice that. i just assumed it is part of the show's gimmick to set the "mood," aside from the reality of not-to-move-anything until the coroner arrives.
