I live in a little town in east Texas. We pretty much all know each other one way or another. I mean like the lady that works at our vehicle registration place aslo goes to my church. And the lady that runs the food bank in town I run into every year at the fair. And the supermarket manager I see all the time at the bank. And the teller at my bank just joined our motorcycle club with her husband. Do you live where its that way or are you wondering around among a bunch of unseen bodies going to and fro. Do you try to say "Hi" or give a smile or just walk on by like you didn't see them?.. Tammy

As I’m living in a small town so we know the people living around one another very well. The house on my left is an old couple going to be 80s. The lady plants lots of various vegetable and flowers. The old man is a retired carpenter. He still able to climb up the roof for some repairing works when necessary. He is a roulette lover who will visit the casino occasionally. There is a 90s old widow living with her 3 daughters and 2 sons. Though 5 of them are about the ages of 50s they still single. Both of the sons are masons. The 3 daughters work at home with the factory stuffs which are sending to their house daily. The two younger daughters seldom communicate with others. The house next to them stays a single woman correcting recycled stuffs. She doesn’t like to make friends with others and only talks to and scolds her dogs loudly. Her voice can be heard even at a very great distance. The house right in the opposite stays an old widow whose 5 children who are doctors and engineers staying out station or over seas. She is an orchid lover and used to do her gardening in the morning. Now she is enjoying her holiday in Canada. The house next to her is a Malay couple who are selling roti canai, a kind of local pancake in the market. At the back of my house there is a religious gathering place. We used to hear holy songs accompanied with guitar played in every Friday evening. The owner is a middle age man who is my nephew’s close friend. We chat happily whenever we meet.

i used to know all my neighbors. they have all moved away, now we are surrounded by people who keep to their own.although i do notice that tends to change when there is hurricanes. my house is the only one on the street that still has hot water when the power goes down LOL.

When the hurricane went thru here we were one of 3 people that had power and its surprising how many come out of the wood work then and haven't seen none of them since except for my one girlfriend here in the subdivision... Ain't that the way its suppose to work?? Tammy

I know a lot of people in my town, as well as in some nearby towns, but sad to say, I have some neighbors I do not know. On the one side, the one house has a frequent rental turn over. At the other house, the people moved in, put up a privacy fence, and we never see them. They are two houses down from me. The guy next door we chat with often. He feeds the dog barbecue scraps and spoils my Princess cat. The people with the fence do not speak to him either.

I live in a little subdivision of a pretty large city in S.E. Georgia. We all know each other pretty well and close neighbors on our street all know each other. I frequent Krogers grocery story and that is quite large but I know most of the employees by name and we are all pretty friendly.

We live in a small town where everyone knows everyone. It can be good when you need help putting up a barn. It can be bad cause everyone knows your business. My husband shot a six-point buck one year. He went to town to get something and saw his dad. His dad asked him if he needed any help cleaning the deer and getting it ready for the freezer. My hubby had not even told his father that he had been hunting or that he had got one but word of it got to town before him. If you drive into the ditch, word of it will get to town before you get to town. lol My mother-in-law passed away earlier this month. She grew up here. She knew a lot of people during her lifetime. There were over 300 people who attended her memorial service. I go to town to pick up a few things. It might take me awhile to get back home because I keep running into people who want to talk. I would not trade it for the world.
