I broke my arm/shoulder at the ball joint socket in January.. I had to have surgery to put the pieces back together.. Now I'm alot of metal and hurt all the time.. I'm beginning to wonder if this is ever going to heal.. I can't sleep at night for the constant aching and the days are beginning to become really long.. I think due to lack of restful sleep.. I am waiting for the night that I can actually sleep more then 3-4 hours before I have to get up to take more pain meds to get out of the pain and discomfort.. Have you lived thru broken bones and are you healed or do you still ach from it.. Does it ever really heal? What does the future hold? Pain, lack of sleep, hurt, boy I hope this gets better.. What do you have to say?? Tammy

I had my shoulder operated on 2 years ago and it was the most painful thing I went through. Tammy it takes a long time to heal. So just try to be patient. I did something to the rotarcuff. So I do know the pain. Just take the medicine if you need it. It will get better.

I dislocated my shoulder year ago, so I know what you are going through. your shoulder takes a long time to heal simply becauseyou use it for every movement you make and the muscles don't get a chance to rest. The surgery you needed just exasperated the muscle pain. Have faith, and within 6 months, your pain should be nearly gone.

I have not had broken bones, but my daughter did when she was nine. Near her elbow. I do not know if it still hurts her. It did for quite awhile. That is eighteen years ago. In general, some foods cause an increase in pain (like sugar) and others, like certain herbs and spices help relieve it--tumeric, ginger, hot peppers. Some vitamins are helpful. It is also useful, while the injury is still painful, to take your pain meds on a scheduled basis, and never let the pain come back up to full force. You actually require less meds that way. There are also remedies like a bag made of rice (like a bean bag) you can warm it two to three minutes in the microwave an apply it to the painful area and get some relief. I am sorry for your pain.

Yes indeed they can ache but the deep pain does go away. Three years ago I bust my elbow up (chasing after my puppy) and got a plate and a couple of screw holding it in place. Then 17 months ago I broke my back in two places and was not supposed to live and if I did I would never walk again. Well I fooled them all. Four months after the accident I was back home and living on my own. I dont take any medication and feel great. So don't give up hope that is the most important thing. I thought I would never get through physical rehabilitation but with faith and hard work you can achieve anything. That is why I was able to reply to your other discussion about the birds and spring...because I am just so joyful I am still around to see it all.
