Does having a big family practical this days? I myself came from a big family. I have 4 brothers and 4 sisters and it was fun. Even now we get together on special occasions and our parents house gets so crowded already since most of them are married and have children.

I think that back when there were smaller towns, that they had lots of children because they had lots of things around to do. Many people had 5 and 6 sisters or brother, they just were more family based then. In this day and age it costs about 5 thousand dollars just to have a child in a hospital, so i think that people lead away from haveing more than 2 or 3 children.

I don't see any reason why this can't be considered practical as it should be on how each individual feels . I come from a small family but now that I have my own family we are considered big in today's times and I love it and don't see anything inpractical about it as we are able to supply our children with all the love and essentials they need on a daily basis .

I think it depends on what you mean by practical. A lot of people say they can't afford to have a big family. I came from a family of 5 kids, my dad came from a family of 10 kids and my mom from a family of 8 kids. None of us were rich by any means and most of the time we barely made ends meet, but we were always happy. Last night my family came over for dinner and we had such a good time remembering all of the great times we had. I cannot imagine what life would be like if there were only two kids--we would have missed out on so much fun.
We never had brand new cars or the latest clothes...always hand-me-downs. If there is enough love to go around, then hving a big family if practical! You will always find a way.
