I am a new high school teacher. Here is my problem. There are so many classes and workshops that we must attend. I have no problem with this. I have my Bachelor's and am almost finished with my credentials and Master's. It seems like every weekend there is some sort of class or workshop that I have to attend. Not to mention the time involved (which I totally understand), but these classes cost a small fortune. Every time I turn around, there is some new test that we have to take. These tests are very pricey. I think I have spent in excess of $30,000 thus far and have a ways yet to go. I used to think that teachers got paid pretty well. I still agree for the most part but when you consider the out of pocket expense, it doesn't seem like quite so much. What do you think?

These classes you are taking, are they part of work or part of school? If there part of work, then they should help you pay for it. If it's part of your schooling then perhaps there are some student loans or scholarships you should look into. That seems like a lot of money just to be a teacher.
