I need a good halloween costume for my 3 yr. old to wear to school

I just found out today that my 3 year old is having a halloween party at her school. They are to dress up as a character from a book. And bring the book. Problem is that I cant afford to go buy anything. I would like some ideas on something she can wear that would possibly be laying around the house. Any help will be great. Thanks!

you could let her go in one of pretty dresses like a blue one and she could sleeping beauty or cinderella.

My son went as a bus driver one year, if you could find a book to go with a bus theme ~ then you could make it out of a box and we used suspenders to help him keep it on. See the pic below:

I couldn't come up with any ideas right off the top of my head. I did find these sites that have homemade costumes on them. Maybe you can find something appropriate for your daughter.

I dont have many books anymore. The kids tore them all up. And what didnt get tore up got chewed up by my 2 year old. He still hasnt grew out of that stage! I am thinking about making her a cheetah. She has this cute cheetah dress, and I can make her ears. I just found it tonight. Thats bad huh. Never worn! And I am sure I can find a book on them at the library. Thanks. + ratings for everyone!

My daughter had the same problem last year. We dressed her as one of the 5 little monkey jumping on the bed... just put her in PJ's!!!
