Other than sleeping pills, is there any other way to that one call fall asleep quick?
A friend told me a long time ago he always have a glass of warm milk before he fixed himself to bed, and he said it always worked for him.
Do you have a certain method that you follow?

When I know I need sleep and it just isn't happening, which is often, I relax my whole body. I literally tell my feet to relax, then calves, knees, thighs and work my way up through my shoulders and arms then my neck. Then I tell my mind to relax, and by that time my body is totally relaxed and my mind will relax.
If you have a problem sleeping at night, and it is because your mind is keeping you awake, this helps alot. As I tell everyone around me, my mind keeps me company while I can't sleep. Sounds crazy but it isn't. My mind keeps me busy until I fall asleep, so I don't go crazy waiting for sleep to come.
I also avoid caffine after 3 pm, and try to take a few minutes for myself before going to bed. I have 4 kids, so I have to take a few minutes for myself before bed.
Try to avoid dealing with stressful issues, such as money in the late evening as well. Eat many hours before bed and only have a light snack if you are hungry before bed.

I've got some explanations on why a glass of warm milk assists one to be able to sleep at night when it is hard to do. Milk contains an ingredient known as Tryptophan, which affects the body and mind in a way as to make it more susceptible to feeling sleepy (the very same substance that makes everyone sleepy after that thanksgiving dinner). Also, the milk being 'warm' helps too because 'warm temperatures' triggers our body's 'slow down' response so we could find it easier to relax and sleep, the same goes with 'warm showers' (maybe that's the reason why it feels good to have warm baths).
In addition, there is anecdotal evidence that the warm milk reminds us of the time when we were infants, hence "sleep like a baby." hehehe.. I've been having trouble with insomnia too but I find the advice from the first response much exciting and psychologically satisfying.. ;p

I used to have insomnia too. I try to exhaust myself as much as possible so I an easily hit the bed and sleep. I tend to clean my house real late. I'm also taking Vitamin B complex with valerian root which is good for insomnia. You can ask your doctor about valerian root. This should be taken in small dosage only as it tend to make you sleepy when taken in high dosage. Hope this info help.

Try that self meditation method :-
A) Close your eyes and relax your body. Think of a garden full of
Roses.
B) Once the above picture comes into your mind. Think of the person whom you love the most. And try to bring his picture in you mind.Your sub-conscious mind..... keep concentrating till you get a clear picture.
C) Once you get a clear picture, start a reverse countdown from 10
to 0. Do it very very slowly.
You should sleep before you reach 4.
Best Of Luck !!!!!!!!

I have insomnia too and nothing really works. Right now, I play some soothing music to help me drift slowly to sleep. It helps too if you make your body physically tired and empty your mind of all thoughts when you lie on your bed trying to go to sleep.
