Would you pay more to go to a therapist that you feel more comfortable with?

How do you choose a therapist? Do you check their credentials and experience? Do you want a therapist that specializes in a certain area or one that provides religious counseling? It seems lots of people just go to a therapist that is within their health insurance plan and sometimes this is the wrong way to go. Some insurances only cover therapy that is within that plan therefore limiting ones choices. I feel it is worth the extra money to find the right therapist that one feels comfortable with. Would you pay more by going outside of your health insurance or just go with whoever the insurance sticks you with?
