I really, really hope they don't ever think of shifting genre. Amy has the perfect range of vocal prowess to handle the wide range that goth music covers - whispering, childlike need ("Fields of Innocence") to roaring, angry growl(cover of Korn's "Thoughtless") to yearning love song ("Anywhere"), and she does them equally well, in my book. And of course, their songs just reach right to the core of pain, loneliness and loss so well; expressing hopelessness one minute, while offering hope the next. IF they ever shifted genre, I could -almost- see them becoming gospel. In fact, a friend and I debated early on if their music often had a gospel slant to it, or could be taken that way, and we very reluctantly agreed that yes, if you listened a certain way it could be. I wonder if they'd be considered Goth Gospel then?

i totally agree with you. I cant imagine Evanescence shifting to another genre especially like pop or rnb. hahaha like its gonna such a big issue if ever that would happen. =) with Amy's voice, it totally rocks. it could totally touch each and everyone's heart by just listening to her sing. if i can remember it correctly, there was an issue about evanescence songs, if it considered gospel music. but as what i have heard, it wasnt considered a christian song / a gospel music.

Are you asking if Amy Lee's doing this because it's trendy? No, it's who she is... And no I don't think that they'll ever sell out just to remain famous...I think they'll go down with the ship & the true fans will remain loyal even if they don't stay "mainstream"... Hell, they'd prolly make better music if they weren't!!
