My favorite is real bakery bread - the wonderful thick hearty kind that you can just tear off a hunk and eat just like that. :o)
I enjoy whole grains the best, especially if there are added nuts and seeds in it. I do like the thick chewy breads that make eating a sandwich a meal in itself.
That thin sliced commercial bread that you can squash a whole loaf into like an inch thick is NOT my kind of bread. I like bread with more substance that give my teeth and jaws a workout! lol
What kind of bread do you like the best?

Whole wheat bread is my favorite. I like the type with lots of other grains in it like sesame seeds, linseeds, oat flakes, wheat flakes and all those healthy grains. I always look out for bread of this type so that I can compare it with my present brand and won't hesitate to buy the best. Some breads are dry. I like mine soft and chewy.

Those breads are soooo good. I stopped at a great bakery yesterday with loads of fresh baked breads - so many to choose from it was great!

I enjoy whole grain pita. The grains add a nice texture to the pita bread. And one can slice the pita bread and add your favourite filling for a meal.
I also like ciabatta. This is also another type of flat bread but is not as flat as pita. It is rectangular shaped. You can slice it in half and put in some filling for a simple meal.
I also love kashmiri naan. This is a type of Indian bread, also flat and is topped with dried fruits. It's excellent when dipped in curry. The sweet dried fruits on the naan with the slightly salty curry make for an interesting meal.

Yes, pita's are great too! I will take them for lunch sometimes - I generally put tuna salad or chicken salad in them, or falafals - those are a great meal.
I do not care much for ciabatta, and have never had kashmiri naan - it sounds good and interesting.

Yes, I agree there is nothing more tastier than bakery bread, especially when it's still hot from the oven! The smell is delicious. My favourite bread is granary, I love all the seeds in the bread and it is more healthier for you. I like doorsteps when I make my sandwiches!

You must make some BIG sandwiches! lol
With the heartier breads it isn't hard to have a high sandwich as they don't compress like regular ole bread.

My favorite is any bread that I make myself, but I live alone now, so it's not worth the time and effort to make loaves of bread just for myself. Breads that I buy: I like multi-grain bread or whole wheat, usually. I do still make fried flat bread sometimes, and corn bread.

Have you tried those frozen small rolls and breads?
You could make one or two just for yourself without the trouble and time of doing it all from scratch. You could still get the homemade freshly made bread that you like.

I like white bread. I'm not really into wheat bread coz I don't like the taste. I know that wheat bread is better for you since it's healthier but the best for me is the white bread, the thick ones specially. :)

yes, I tend to like the thick bread slices too.
I grew up on white bread, but my mom usually made it from scratch - it was so good warm with butter or jam on it.

If it is baked then nothing beats a white bread for me I love white bread it is my one indulgence that will most definately take me to grave! I hate the taste of wheat bread, so much so if I have no alternative to wheat bread I would go hungry... yes that bad!
I also like the flat bread that I make it is like tortillas. But in this category I like whole wheat flour ones only. I knead the dough and then apportion the dough then comes rolling it out with a rolling pin to a thickness of less than 1/8th of an inch and about six inches in diameter, then put it on a hot pan let it cook both sides takes about a minute to get done! I love to have these with anything butter, vegetables, jams, sugar, eggs! Anything goes.....
To give my teeth a workout I eat a lot of carrots!

well, maybe you can just slice little carrot curls to go on TOP of your hot bread ~ that might be quite tasty - throw a few raisins in too -- yum!

I have been on a pepperoni bread kick as of late. The bad thing is that I try to do a low carb diet all the time and this stuff just kills me. Instead of having just one bite and satisfying my craving, I have to be a complete pig and eat way too much. Fresh bread right out of the oven is way too tempting. I can't pass up a garlic bagel either. A local place makes egg bagels then melts cheddar cheese and sliced jalepenos on top. I need to stop talking about this or I am going to have to go and get some!

I've never tried pepperoni bread -- not sure if that'd go over for me or not - since I wouldn't want a pepperoni sandwich I don't think I'd like it cold in a hunk of bread!??!??! Did you get out and eat some bread after all this! lol

I only eat whole grain breads, usually a whole grain wheat. I agree with you on that mushy grocery store bread-- yuck! I like a nice hearty bakery bread. And I usually use whoel grain wraps or pitas for sandwiches.

My favorite is bakery multi-grain bread. I love the smell and the texture of the hearty grains feel on my toungue. It is also good for you. Whole grain breads can actually provide you with fiber and that is something that we could all use. The bakery just seems to be better because they slice it thicker. I also like to think that I'm helping support a local merchant instead of a corperation.

I do like the thicker sliced bread - I even got a different toaster that would hold thicker bread! lol

yes, lots of times I will just eat a piece of bread all by itself - that's saying something when the bread is so good you don't need anything else to put on it.
Thanks for responding.

well now-a-days they are using whole-grain white flour which does all some health factor to the loafs of bread! lol

I would have to say my favorite is rye bread. I also enjoy any homemade breads. I have a recipe for potato bread that my whole family likes. There is something special about taking a loaf out of the oven, putting butter on it and eating it hot. It tastes so much better.

I too love real bakery bread, but it has to be white lol. Whole grains don't agree with my tummy, and same with brown bread.
Commercial bread these days really isn't all that good, and the taste just isn't there anymore. It's all about quantity as opposed to quality these days which is sad.

I like rasin bread !! The texture of the raisin bread is more compact. There is not so much holes in it like the white bread, and every mouth is fulling. The taste of it is also sweet because of the raisins.
